Kyrgyzstan approves program to develop small and medium enterprises by 2030

The Kyrgyz government has officially adopted a comprehensive program designed to bolster small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through 2030. This initiative signals a strategic push to foster economic growth and structural transformation within the country.

The program's overarching objective is to significantly enhance the role of SMEs in the national economy. By 2030, officials aim to see increased value-added contributions from these businesses to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Furthermore, the plan targets job creation, expansion of export capabilities, and a rise in overall tax revenues, all stemming from these targeted economic shifts.

To achieve these ambitious goals, the program will implement an institutional model centered on coordination, digitalization, and public-private partnerships. A core component of this strategy involves establishing a consortium of institutions dedicated to supporting SMEs. Complementing this will be the introduction of a digital platform, dubbed "MSB Hub," which is intended to function as a "one-stop-shop" for entrepreneurs, streamlining access to services and information.

Government officials, including regional presidential representatives and local self-government heads, have been assigned personal responsibility for the program's effective and timely execution. This measure underscores the government's commitment to ensuring accountability and successful implementation of the SME development plan.
