Kyrgyzstan Culture Ministry urges temporary halt to Tash-Rabat visits for restoration

The Ministry of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan has advised citizens and tourists to temporarily avoid visiting the Tash-Rabat historical and architectural complex. This recommendation stems from ongoing repair and restoration efforts that are part of the state program "Koono Tarykh Syrlary" (Secrets of Ancient History), set to continue until 2027.

During this period, specific areas within the complex are fenced off, and access is limited. The restrictions are necessary due to the presence of heavy machinery and specialized equipment required for the restoration work. The primary goals of the project are to strengthen the monument's structure, ensure its long-term preservation, and guarantee visitor safety once the work is complete.

The ministry emphasized that the restoration process involves specialized technologies and materials, necessitating a phased approach. Consequently, the work is expected to last until 2027. Tour companies and guides are urged to consider these limitations when planning itineraries and to inform their clients in advance about the temporary restrictions.

Following the completion of the main restoration phases, the Ministry of Culture will issue a separate announcement regarding the complex's full reopening. This phased approach aims to balance preservation efforts with public access, ensuring the historical site's integrity for future generations.
