Kyrgyzstan Invests Nearly 20 Billion Soms in Private Homes in First Half of 2026

Kyrgyzstan's private housing sector saw substantial investment in the first half of 2026, with 4,591 individual homes completed. These projects span a total area of 634,000 square meters and attracted approximately 19.8 billion Kyrgyz soms in investment, according to the National Statistical Committee.

This represents a 6.1% increase in the total area of individual homes compared to the first six months of 2025, indicating a growing trend in private construction. Overall capital investments in housing reached 75.6 billion soms, with individual construction playing a significant role in the sector's stable development.

Bishkek emerged as the leader in construction activity, reporting a remarkable 40.4% increase in completed areas. Batken and Naryn regions also showed positive growth, with increases of 16.5% and 13.1%, respectively. These regional gains highlight the effectiveness of local development programs.

Conversely, some regions experienced a slowdown. Issyk-Kul and Talas regions saw the most significant drops in construction activity, decreasing by 24.4% and 24.8%, respectively. Jalal-Abad region also reported a slight decrease of 5%. The concentration of investment in Bishkek is attributed to ongoing urbanization and high demand, while declines in resort and mountainous areas may be linked to seasonal factors and shifting budget priorities towards larger infrastructure projects.
