Kyrgyzstan, Khakassia discuss expanding cooperation

Kyrgyzstan and Russia's Khakassia region are deepening their economic and cultural ties, building on a long-standing cooperation agreement. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan, Kubanychbek Bokontaev, met with Khakassia's head, Valentin Konovalov, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

We are ready to develop cooperation in the supply of food and light industry products. In 2025, our trading house Slavitsa successfully concluded a contract for the supply of ice cream to Kyrgyzstan, this is a striking example of our trade partnership.

Khakassia's leader highlighted Kyrgyzstan's role as a consistent trading partner, with a comprehensive cooperation agreement in place since 1998. This pact encompasses economy, science, technology, and culture. Konovalov pointed to a recent contract for ice cream supply as a prime example of their trade partnership.

Our republics, in addition to the economy, also cooperate in the field of culture and tourism. For example, in June 2025, the delegation of Khakassia participated in the «Museum Alliance: Eurasian Initiative» summit in Bishkek; last year, creative teams from the Kyrgyz Republic took part in the international festival Zharki, ChitigenFEST, an assembly of felting masters.

The republics are also fostering collaboration in culture and tourism. Khakassian creative teams have participated in Kyrgyz festivals, and a Kyrgyz delegation visited Khakassia for tourism experience exchange. Both sides agreed to mutual information tours and are planning a joint conference for entrepreneurs, signaling a commitment to further joint ventures and cultural understanding.
