Kyrgyzstan Launches Preferential Loans for Drug Manufacturers

Kyrgyzstan is introducing a new state support program to bolster its pharmaceutical industry, offering preferential loans to domestic drug and medical device manufacturers. The initiative provides financing at attractive annual interest rates of 3% and 5%, with repayment terms extending up to 12 years.

The program, approved by a cabinet decree on June 23, 2026, targets local producers to enhance their capacity and adherence to international quality standards. A working meeting on July 1, 2026, brought together representatives from the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, Ministry of Health, the State Development Bank, "ABank," "Eldik Bank," and several pharmaceutical companies to discuss the program's implementation.

Participating enterprises can utilize the loans for crucial investments such as modernizing production facilities, constructing or renovating buildings, acquiring state-of-the-art equipment, and establishing quality control laboratories. The funding also supports specialist training and the implementation of drug marking and traceability systems. Borrowers will benefit from a grace period of up to two years for principal loan repayment.

Bank representatives detailed the financing conditions, borrower requirements, and application procedures during the meeting. The Ministry of Economy and Commerce anticipates that this program will significantly modernize the nation's pharmaceutical sector, boost the production of competitive medicines, and strengthen Kyrgyzstan's overall drug security.
