Kyrgyzstan plans to connect new railway to Georgia's ports

Kyrgyzstan and Georgia are prioritizing the integration of a new railway project with Georgia's port infrastructure, signaling a significant step in bilateral cooperation. Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov announced the interest following talks with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, describing the visit as historic for the 34-year diplomatic relationship between the two nations.

This direction is considered one of the priorities of bilateral cooperation.

The planned railway, connecting China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, is seen as a key component in developing international transport corridors. Japarov expressed Kyrgyzstan's keenness to collaborate with Georgia on these transport initiatives, extending invitations for Georgian participation in projects spanning transport, agriculture, construction, digital economy, and tourism.

Discussions also encompassed strengthening political dialogue, trade, economic, and investment ties, alongside cultural and humanitarian connections. Both leaders acknowledged the positive growth in mutual trade and committed to measures aimed at increasing товарооборот (trade turnover), fostering business community contacts, and realizing joint investment projects.

Beyond economic and logistical cooperation, Japarov invited Georgian athletes to participate in the upcoming VI World Nomad Games to be held in Kyrgyzstan. The talks concluded with the signing of several bilateral documents designed to bolster cooperation across various sectors, which are expected to facilitate mutually beneficial projects and further develop bilateral relations.
