Kyrgyzstan police fine 156 foreigners over 1.1 million soms in 'Illegal' raids

Kyrgyzstan authorities have intensified efforts to curb illegal migration and employment through a series of "Illegal" raids across Bishkek. From August 5 to August 19, law enforcement officers, in collaboration with the anti-extremism and illegal migration service of the Bishkek Department of Internal Affairs, inspected residences and commercial properties housing foreign nationals.

The operation led to 156 foreigners being taken to police departments, where 97 administrative protocols were filed. The total fines imposed amounted to over 1.1 million Kyrgyz soms (approximately $12,500 USD). This crackdown specifically targeted individuals suspected of violating migration laws and engaging in unauthorized employment.

Furthering these efforts, a specialized "Illegal Moto-Courier" raid was conducted on August 20. This operation focused on identifying foreign nationals working illegally as motorcycle couriers. Authorities found that 48 individuals had violated migration laws, resulting in 33 administrative protocols and fines totaling 322,000 soms (approximately $3,700 USD). Additionally, 10 motorcycles and two electric bicycles were impounded.

The State Committee for National Security (SCNS) has stated that operations to identify and address violations of migration laws and the illegal use of foreign labor will continue. These measures underscore the government's commitment to enforcing immigration regulations and ensuring that foreign workers are legally employed within the country.
