Kyrgyzstan President Reviews Development Plans for Southern Capital Osh

Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Жапаров received a briefing on the development plans for Osh, the nation's southern capital, during a brief visit to the Osh region on June 8, 2026. The presentation showcased key infrastructure and investment projects aimed at modernizing the city's environment.

A significant highlight of the proposed developments is a multi-functional sports arena. This facility will span over 22,000 square meters and accommodate 5,200 spectators. Osh Mayor Жанарбек Акаев noted that the arena is intended to be a venue for sports and cultural events catering to the youth.

In addition to the sports arena, plans include the construction of an ethno-historical complex. This complex is designed to attract tourists and support local artisans, featuring park areas, historical and cultural zones, and commercial spaces. The development strategy also encompasses building hotels and establishing a branch of a school operating under international franchises.

Mayor Акаев stressed that these projects are expected to transform Osh's architectural and aesthetic appearance, cultivating a modern and investment-attractive image. President Жапаров, after reviewing the proposals, instructed officials to prioritize the quality of work execution and ensure the effective utilization of attracted investments.
