Kyrgyzstan's QR Payments Surge Tenfold to 908.6 Billion Soms

QR payments in Kyrgyzstan have experienced a tenfold increase in 2025, reaching a total volume of 908.6 billion soms. Almaz Baketaev, Chairman of the Board of the National Bank, announced these figures during the 2025 financial year-end report presented to the Zhogorku Kenesh (parliament).

The surge in QR payment adoption is further evidenced by a sharp rise in transaction volume. The number of QR transactions climbed approximately eightfold compared to the 2024 level, reaching a total of 525.1 million operations. This significant growth underscores a rapid shift towards digital and cashless transactions within the country.

Supporting this trend, the infrastructure for cashless payments has seen substantial expansion. The number of QR terminals installed at retail outlets across Kyrgyzstan has grown to 114,100. This represents an increase of almost 95 percent year-on-year, indicating widespread adoption and accessibility of QR payment systems for consumers and businesses alike.

The number of QR transactions has also increased sharply, reaching 525.1 million operations, approximately eight times the 2024 level.

The QR payment ecosystem in Kyrgyzstan involves at least 20 banks and 14 payment organizations. This broad participation fosters healthy competition among service providers, which in turn accelerates the adoption and spread of digital payment solutions throughout the nation.
