Kyrgyzstan to build four-lane road from Bishkek to Chunkurchak Gorge

Kyrgyzstan is planning to build a new, alternative four-lane road from the capital, Bishkek, to the popular Chunkurchak Gorge. The announcement was made by Talantbek Soltobaev, the Minister of Transport and Communications, as part of the "Open Cabinet" project. Currently, the design phase for this new route is underway. The road is being engineered to bypass populated areas, a key feature intended to alleviate traffic congestion on existing routes and shorten travel times for visitors heading to the gorge. Chunkurchak Gorge is a well-frequented mountain recreation area situated near Bishkek, attracting many residents and tourists. The implementation of this new transport infrastructure is anticipated to significantly enhance accessibility to this key tourist destination, making it easier and quicker for people to reach the scenic natural site.
