Kyrgyzstan to establish international trade park in Batken region

Kyrgyzstan is set to establish an international trade and economic park named Dostuk in the Batken region, a strategic move to foster regional integration and economic development. Bakyt Torobaev, the Special Representative of the President for Special Assignments, announced the plan during a working visit to the region.

The Dostuk park will span 100 hectares and is planned for a border area shared by Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. Its primary objectives include strengthening regional cooperation, enhancing cross-border trade and logistics, and creating new economic opportunities by attracting international investment. The project is envisioned as a catalyst for unity, cooperation, and sustainable development among the three neighboring countries.

158 projects are currently being reviewed nationwide, covering agriculture, construction, tourism, addressing electricity shortages, and industrial development.

This initiative is part of a larger national effort to develop a robust regional investment portfolio. Currently, 158 projects across Kyrgyzstan are under review, covering sectors such as agriculture, construction, tourism, industrial development, and solutions for electricity shortages. These projects will be categorized into small, medium, and large enterprises and subsequently presented to financial institutions and investors.

During the meeting in Batken, local officials, including the Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative Mamyrzhan Rakhimov, district heads, and city mayors, presented projects specific to their territories. The development of the Dostuk park signifies a focused effort to leverage the region's geographic position to stimulate economic activity and improve livelihoods.
