Kyrgyzstan to Fund New Mineral Exploration with Special Account

The Kyrgyz government is set to enhance its mineral resource management with a new funding mechanism approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. This initiative, detailed in a decree signed by Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev, aims to boost the exploration and reproduction of Kyrgyzstan's mineral and raw material base.

A key component of the new system is the creation of a dedicated special account, which will be managed by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision. Funds from this account will be exclusively allocated to financing geological exploration projects commissioned by the state.

The Ministry of Natural Resources will be responsible for coordinating geological study programs, ensuring the efficient use of allocated funds, and monitoring the progress of exploration work. The state enterprise "Kyrgyzgeology" has been designated as the primary executor for these state-ordered projects, tasked with the crucial role of discovering, exploring, and replenishing the nation's mineral wealth.

To support this, the Ministry of Finance will open a special account within the Central Treasury system, ensuring all transactions adhere to the Budget Code. The government emphasizes that these measures are designed to replenish existing mineral reserves, stimulate geological exploration activities, and encourage a more rational and sustainable approach to utilizing Kyrgyzstan's abundant natural resources. The decree will come into effect seven days after its publication.
