Kyrgyzstan to Install 20,000 Surveillance Cameras by Year-End to Boost Public Safety

Kyrgyzstan is set to significantly bolster its public safety infrastructure with the installation of around 20,000 video surveillance cameras nationwide by the end of 2026. This initiative is part of the "Safe Country" project, designed to enhance crime prevention and maintain public order.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs recently held a collegium meeting to review its operational activities for the first half of 2026. Discussions focused on the digitalization of the ministry's systems, ensuring public safety during the peak tourist season, and other pressing matters. A key outcome was the confirmation that the "Safe Country" project will be fully implemented by year's end.

Officials emphasized the importance of improving the quality of service provided to citizens. Heads of internal affairs bodies were instructed to uphold legality and transparency in their interactions, provide clear explanations of citizens' rights and obligations, and promptly address all inquiries. The project's success hinges on these cameras improving the effectiveness of crime prevention and ensuring the security of citizens.
