Kyrgyzstan to Retrieve Bodies of Foreign Climbers from Peak Koromdu

Kyrgyzstan is preparing to launch an operation to bring down the bodies of foreign climbers from Peak Koromdu in the Osh region within the next few days. Eduard Kubatov, the director of the State Agency for Tourism Development, confirmed that leading Kyrgyz climbers will head the mission.

The operation will involve ascending to the peak, locating the deceased climbers, documenting their identities, and then transporting them to the city of Osh. The exact start date depends on the weather conditions stabilizing around the Koromdu summit. The agency anticipates the operation could begin as early as tomorrow or the day after.

The climbers, identified as 43-year-old Maksim Polyansky and 60-year-old Nikolay Sviridov from Belarus, along with 37-year-old Sergey Rubtsov from Lithuania, had successfully conquered Peak Koromdu on August 2. However, they failed to reach the base camp as scheduled on August 4, prompting a search and rescue operation. Unfortunately, adverse weather conditions complicated the search, leading to a critical loss of time.
