Kyung Hee University Art College Opens 'First Step Exhibition' for 60th Anniversary

Kyung Hee University's College of Art is marking its 60th anniversary by hosting the '2026 College of Art First Step Exhibition.' The event, which opened on June 8, is designed to celebrate the initial creative endeavors of its incoming students. The exhibition provides a space for these new artists to share their burgeoning talent with the university community and their families.

Spanning all four floors of the art museum, the exhibition features early works from the freshmen, aiming to foster their artistic development. The space is enhanced with interactive elements, including a design utilizing the student-created character 'Mirangi' and participatory installations, offering visitors an engaging experience. The exhibition is open to all students, faculty, and visitors from June 8 to June 14, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

An opening ceremony was held on the first floor of the museum on the afternoon of June 8, attended by faculty, parents, and students. A special program invited parents to tour the college's educational facilities and creative environment. The exhibition is integrated with educational programs designed to aid students' academic adaptation and creative expansion, including portfolio consultations and feedback sessions with supervising professors to bolster their practical artistic skills.

Na Hyung-min, dean of the College of Art, stated, "The 'First Step Exhibition' is a show that supports the beginnings of our new art students as they grow into artists. It holds significant meaning as our first exhibition involving not only the college community but also parents, coinciding with the College of Art's 60th anniversary." He added, "The process of presenting one's work to the world for the first time is a crucial experience for students. It should be viewed as an extension of our education, supporting their creative will and artistic growth."
