Kyung Hee University Selected to Operate Regional Career Experience Program

Kyung Hee University has been chosen as the operating institution for the northern Gyeonggi region in the "2026 University-Enterprise Linked Career Experience Program." This initiative, organized by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, aims to offer tailored career exploration experiences to students across Gyeonggi Province.

The program will focus on providing practical opportunities to youth, with a special emphasis on students from underserved areas, including those in remote islands and border regions, who often have limited access to career development resources. The initiative is set to run until December, employing diverse methods such as a "career experience bus," career exploration camps, on-site visits, and career concerts.

Leveraging its extensive experience from programs like the "Yongin Mirei Shared School" with Yongin City and the "Digital New Seed Camp" with the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, Kyung Hee University has developed specialized content. These programs utilize the university's advanced infrastructure in fields like semiconductors, AI, immersive media, and space science. The university has also structured thematic programs considering regional demands and the specific needs of different school levels, ensuring a balanced educational framework across the entire region.

The "career experience bus," designed for students facing mobility challenges, began its operations in August. This bus travels to schools that have applied for the program, offering customized educational experiences in areas like artificial intelligence, digital technology, and space science, led by experts and university student mentors. Additionally, career concerts and mentoring sessions utilizing university facilities and key industrial sites are planned to aid students in practical career planning.

This program anticipates providing career exploration opportunities to over 100 schools and more than 4,000 students. A significant portion, over 65%, of participating schools will be from rural or underserved areas, prioritizing students with limited educational access. Lee Won-gu, head of Kyung Hee University's Future Innovation Center, stated that the program is designed to be more than just a short-term experience, aiming to connect youth's lives with their future careers. He added that a follow-up system will continuously support students' career journeys even after the program concludes.
