Labor welcomes news of Said Iqbal potentially joining Prabowo's cabinet

The potential appointment of Said Iqbal, President of the Indonesian Confederation of Trade Unions (KSPI), to President Prabowo Subianto's cabinet has been met with enthusiasm by labor representatives. Arnod Sihite, Deputy Chairman of KSPI, described the move as a strategic decision crucial for navigating Indonesia's current economic and social challenges. He expressed confidence that the inclusion of labor figures in the government would provide valuable support to the president in finding solutions to national issues.

Arnod highlighted the evolving role of labor leaders, stating they are no longer solely focused on industrial relations. Many have become prominent politicians, academics, lawyers, and community figures with extensive experience and contributions to the nation. He cited examples like Yorrys Raweyai, a senior politician and national figure serving as Deputy Speaker of the Regional Representative Council (DPD), and Jumhur Hidayat, who holds a government position. Andi Gani Nena Wea, President of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPSI), also serves as an advisor to the National Police Chief.
