Lagos Accord Party unveils governorship, senatorial candidates for 2027 elections

The Lagos State chapter of the Accord Party has officially presented its candidates for the upcoming 2027 general elections. The party unveiled its governorship candidate, Sowore Robert, alongside nominees for three senatorial districts and various other legislative positions. A total of 27 candidates received Certificates of Return at an event held in Lagos on Saturday.

Dele Oladeji, the state chairman of the Accord Party and a candidate for the Lagos West Senatorial District, stated that the presentation formally confirms the emergence of the party's candidates. He positioned the Accord Party as a credible political alternative for Lagos residents seeking a change from the current political landscape. Oladeji highlighted the party's core values: "social justice, equity and welfare-oriented governance," with a commitment to enhancing citizens' welfare, improving security, and protecting lives and property.

Solomon Wahab, the party's candidate for the Lagos Central Senatorial District, expressed his motivation to improve governance and ensure citizens receive greater benefits from democratic dividends. He stressed the importance of government accountability and urged eligible Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate actively in the electoral process. Wahab also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure transparent, free, and credible elections.

Other candidates also shared their priorities. Joseph Jehoshaphat, running for the House of Representatives in the Badagry Federal Constituency, pledged to address infrastructure deficits and youth unemployment, aiming to attract federal projects to the area. Abisoye Obayon, a candidate for the Lagos State House of Assembly in Somolu Constituency II, aims to promote development and expand opportunities. Blessing Maduka-Sunday, the Lagos East Senatorial candidate, advocated for increased female participation in politics.
