Lagos Authorities Give Ojo Hospital Encroachers Seven Days to Vacate

The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Informal Space Management Authority (LASISMA), has issued a stern seven-day warning to traders and illegal occupants to clear out from areas surrounding the newly built Ojo General Hospital. These encroachers have occupied road setbacks and spaces designated for public infrastructure, prompting the government to act.

LASISMA's General Manager, TPL Daisi Oso, stated that the immediate concern is the extent of encroachment impacting the hospital's operations and accessibility. The authority noted that activities such as illegal refuse dumping, an unauthorized fruit market, public toilets, a planks market, and shanties are incompatible with the hospital's status.

Oso emphasized that the encroachment poses risks beyond physical planning, affecting public health, security, and crucially, access for ambulances and emergency vehicles. He warned that the continued occupation could hinder timely access for patients, which is critical in emergency situations. The state government has directed LASISMA to reclaim these spaces and restore them to their intended purposes.
