Lagos LG boss pledges to protect lives, property, boost security support

Princess Surah Animashaun, Chairman of the Epe Local Government Council Area in Lagos State, has affirmed her administration's commitment to ensuring adequate security for residents. She emphasized that providing security for lives and property remains a top priority, stating that sustainable development can only flourish in a peaceful and secure environment.

Animashaun's remarks came during a comprehensive security stakeholders' meeting held at the council secretariat. The gathering included key figures from security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders, religious leaders, market representatives, and youth leaders across the Epe Division. The meeting served as a platform for robust discussions aimed at strengthening the local security architecture, enhancing intelligence gathering, and fostering collaboration among various security agencies.

The council chairman stressed the importance of collective responsibility in addressing emerging security challenges. She expressed optimism that the collaborative efforts would significantly contribute to resolving current security issues affecting the country. Animashaun assured security agencies of her government's continued cooperation and support.

Beyond security, the administration is actively working to unlock Epe's investment and business potential to transform the economy and create job opportunities for the youth. Animashaun acknowledged that unemployment, hunger, and poverty are significant drivers of crime. To support security operations, the council provides monthly stipends to security agencies operating within the area and has supplied patrol vehicles and motorcycles to the Tactical Squad and the ‘Ibile Vigilante Group’ to improve surveillance and response capabilities.
