Landfill fire rages near Paraćin; activist urges minister to visit

A non-sanitary landfill near Paraćin continues to burn, releasing toxic fumes into the air for days on end. The active fire at the Buljanka landfill has raised serious environmental concerns, prompting calls for immediate action from local authorities and environmental activists.

Aleksandar Jovanović Ćuta, a prominent figure from the Ecological Uprising movement, visited the burning landfill. He documented the extent of the environmental damage and expressed frustration over the prolonged inaction to extinguish the blaze and manage the waste properly. Jovanović criticized the authorities for their perceived negligence in addressing the crisis.

In a direct appeal, Jovanović invited the Minister of Environmental Protection, Irena Vujović, to visit the site. He urged her to personally experience the polluted air, highlighting the severity of the situation and the direct impact on the health and well-being of the local population. The activist stressed the urgent need for intervention to contain the fire and implement long-term solutions for waste management in the region.
