Lando Norris signs McLaren contract extension until 2030

Formula 1 star Lando Norris has committed his future to McLaren, signing a contract extension that will keep him with the British team until at least the end of the 2030 season. The 26-year-old announced his decision during the team's annual family day event held at their Woking factory.

Norris has been a McLaren driver since 2019, accumulating 163 Grand Prix starts, more than any other driver in the team's storied history. His continued presence is a significant boost for McLaren as they aim to challenge for championships.

To celebrate the new agreement, Norris was presented with a MCL39 Formula 1 car, the model with which he secured his first world championship title last season. "McLaren is my home," Norris stated, reflecting on his deep connection with the team. He recently secured victories in the Hungarian and Dutch Grand Prix races.

This long-term commitment from Norris follows a similar move by his Australian teammate, Oscar Piastri, who signed a long-term contract in March of the previous year. Team Principal Andrea Stella emphasized the importance of retaining both drivers, highlighting that McLaren can rely on one of the strongest and most cohesive partnerships in Formula 1.
