Landslide blocks Koshi Highway section in Sankhuwasabha

A significant landslide has completely blocked a vital section of the Koshi Highway in Sankhuwasabha, bringing all traffic to a standstill. The obstruction occurred on the Khandbari–Kimathanka road section, specifically at Sirek in ward 4 of Bhotkhola Rural Municipality, on Friday afternoon.

Officials are working diligently with local units and road agencies to remove the landslide material and restore traffic flow. The Khandbari–Kimathanka road is a key artery for Sankhuwasabha, serving residents of Bhotkhola, travelers, and cargo transport. Ram Bahadur Gurung, chief of the North–South Koshi Road Project, noted an increase in landslides along this route recently and urged caution for all road users. Equipment is being mobilized to expedite the clearing process and resume normal movement.
