Large Fire in Orchomenos: Firefighting Forces Significantly Reinforced

Extensive firefighting efforts are underway in Orchomenos, Boeotia, Greece, where a significant fire has erupted in an agricultural and forest area. The blaze, which began shortly after 3:30 PM, is currently contained away from residential zones.

Reinforcements have substantially bolstered the response, with 105 firefighters, including five ground teams from the 4th and 10th EMAK special units, alongside volunteers. The aerial response is robust, with 10 aircraft and 3 helicopters periodically assisting in combating the flames. Support is also being provided by water tankers and construction machinery from the Region of Central Greece.

The Boeotia Arson Crime Investigation Unit has dispatched personnel to the scene to determine the cause of the fire. Throughout the incident, the National Operational Center for Emergency Response and Crisis Management (ESKEDIK) is receiving continuous visual and thermal imaging data from a drone, aiding in the monitoring and management of the situation.
