Las Palmas won't release Croatian goalkeeper for less than five million euros

Croatian goalkeeper Dinko Horkaš wishes to depart from Spanish second-division club Las Palmas following a strong performance last season, but the club's president, Miguel Angel Ramirez, insists on a minimum transfer fee of five million euros.

Ramirez stated that Horkaš informed the club management of his difficulty in continuing to play for Las Palmas after the club rejected an offer from a United Arab Emirates club, which Horkaš felt would have been life-changing. "Horkaš has a contract with Las Palmas and will remain our player if the offer does not satisfy the club," Ramirez said, specifying the club's demand for five million euros in a single payment plus 50% of any future transfer, contrasting with the offer of four million euros spread over four years.

Las Palmas is firm on its negotiation stance. Ramirez even joked about Horkaš's potential refusal to play, suggesting he could assist with marking the pitch or setting up nets instead. Horkaš joined Las Palmas in the summer of 2024 on a free transfer from Bulgarian club Lokomotiv Plovdiv and is contracted until June 2028.

Several clubs have shown interest in the 27-year-old goalkeeper, including Scottish club Celtic, according to Spanish media. The transfer market in Spain closes in 25 days, potentially leading to further offers beyond the one from the UAE. Last season, Horkaš played 43 matches for Las Palmas, conceding 41 goals, and was a contender for the goalkeeper with the fewest goals conceded in the league. Las Palmas finished fifth and reached the promotion playoffs, where they were defeated by Malaga.
