LASTMA rescues two trapped in Lagos multi-vehicle crash

Two individuals were rescued from a commercial bus wreckage after a multi-vehicle collision on the Lagos Motorway. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) responded swiftly to the incident, which occurred in the Ogudu-Alapere area and involved a 12-tyre truck and a Volkswagen bus.

The commercial bus reportedly somersaulted following the collision, trapping its driver and a passenger. LASTMA personnel, on routine patrol, immediately initiated rescue and traffic management procedures. Working with other emergency responders, they successfully extricated the trapped victims.

Officials handed the rescued individuals to the Lagos State Ambulance Service for medical attention. The agency highlighted the rescue as a testament to its commitment to public safety and traffic management. The accident scene was secured by the police, and damaged vehicles were removed to clear the obstruction and restore traffic flow.

LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, commended the rescue team's promptness and professionalism. He urged motorists, particularly truck and commercial vehicle operators, to practice defensive driving and adhere to traffic regulations, emphasizing that road safety is a shared responsibility.
