LATAM launches direct Quito-Santiago route from June 2026

LATAM Airlines is set to launch a new direct route connecting Quito, Ecuador, with Santiago, Chile, commencing June 20, 2026. This expansion aims to meet growing passenger demand for direct flights between the two capitals and enhance international connectivity for Ecuador.

Edgar Andrade, commercial manager for LATAM Airlines Ecuador, highlighted the route's significance. "The opening of this Quito-Santiago route represents excellent news for our passengers and for Ecuador's connectivity," he stated. "We are offering a direct and efficient travel alternative that will facilitate access to Chile and multiple international destinations through one of South America's most important hubs."

By December 2026, LATAM plans to operate four weekly flights on this route, providing an estimated 35,000 extra seats each year. This increase in capacity is expected to bolster tourism, business travel, and cultural exchange between Ecuador and Chile. The flights will be operated using modern Airbus A320neo aircraft, noted for their fuel efficiency and reduced CO₂ emissions, offering both Economy and Premium Economy cabins.

Passengers will benefit from significantly reduced travel times, potentially saving between 1.5 to 3 hours compared to flights with layovers. Santiago serves as a major hub for LATAM, offering onward connections to numerous domestic destinations in Chile and Brazil, as well as international flights to Auckland, New Zealand. This new route underscores LATAM's strategy to strengthen Ecuador's global and regional connectivity, supporting the country's tourism and economic competitiveness.
