Lavrov Says Western Accusations Over Leipzig Attack Amount to Beginning of War

Sergei Lavrov has described Western accusations over a drone incident in Leipzig as something far more serious than a political dispute. The Russian foreign minister said the allegations were essentially the beginning of a real war.

Germany’s government has blamed Russia for what it calls an August hybrid attack on the eastern German airport Leipzig/Halle. Moscow rejects the accusation.

The incident has become a point of confrontation between Berlin and Moscow, with the two sides offering sharply different accounts of Russia’s alleged role. Lavrov’s warning gives the dispute an explicitly escalatory framing.
