Law on rights for martyrs' relatives and veterans passes in Turkey

Turkey's parliament has passed a new law aimed at bolstering the rights of martyrs' relatives and veterans. The legislation, approved in the Grand National Assembly's general assembly, introduces several key provisions to support these groups.

Under the new law, the parents of martyrs will receive an income guarantee equivalent to the net minimum wage. This measure seeks to provide financial stability for families who have lost loved ones in service to the country. Additionally, the law increases supplementary payments for veterans who are disabled and require care, ensuring they receive greater support.

The legislation also extends benefits to individuals injured during counter-terrorism operations who were not classified as disabled. These individuals will now be eligible for monthly payments and other social rights. Furthermore, the age limit for re-examination of duty-disabled privates and corporals has been raised from 41 to 55, potentially allowing more personnel to receive appropriate benefits.
