Law school confirms student’s death after fall from Lagos campus rooftop

Faith Alayande, a 23-year-old student at the Nigerian Law School's Enugu Campus, has died following a fall from the rooftop of the Lagos Campus hostel. Alayande was temporarily housed at the Lagos facility for an externship program.

Preliminary information indicates that, at about 4:00 am on Friday, 7 August 2026, the student fell from the rooftop of the hostel at the Campus and, sadly, succumbed to the incident.

The incident occurred around 4 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026. The Nigerian Law School confirmed Alayande's death in a statement, noting that she "succumbed to the incident" after the fall. The institution stated it is cooperating with authorities and the family to establish the exact circumstances.

Management is working closely with the appropriate authorities and the family to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident, ensure that all necessary procedures are duly followed, and provide further information as appropriate.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the case after the hostel matron reported finding the student unresponsive. Police have evacuated the body and are investigating. Reports suggest a suicide note was found, and the student was searched for before she was discovered after the fall. However, the Law School's statement did not provide details on the events leading up to the incident.
