Lawmaker Threatens Impeachment Over President's Remarks on Own Prosecution

Independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon has issued a stern warning, vowing to pursue impeachment against President Lee Jae-myung if the president moves to cancel the prosecution of his own legal cases.

The strong statement from Han came on Sunday, following President Lee's remarks during his first-anniversary press conference. In the conference, Lee suggested that his cases should be corrected if found to be flawed, or left alone if not, implying a desire for the cancellation of charges against him.

If President Lee cancels his own case prosecution, I will initiate impeachment. I will lead the way with the public.

Han Dong-hoon vehemently criticized the President's stance, particularly his reference to acting "according to law and common sense." Han argued that "nothing is more contrary to law and common sense than Lee Jae-myung (President) canceling Lee Jae-myung's (President's) prosecution." He characterized such an action as a "brazen, low-level crime."

"If President Lee cancels his own case prosecution, I will initiate impeachment," Han declared on his Facebook page. He pledged to "lead the way with the public" in this endeavor, signaling a significant escalation in the political confrontation surrounding the president's legal challenges.
