Lead Actress Replaced in Mikkel Kessler Biopic

The upcoming film chronicling the life of Danish boxer Mikkel Kessler, tentatively titled "Kessler - The Viking Warrior," has seen a central casting change. Molly Egelind will now portray Linse, Mikkel Kessler's sister, stepping in for Marie Bach Hansen.

The decision, described as a "strong and creative" one by production company Brightside Pictures and director Brian Sean Tange, stems from coordination issues and calendar conflicts. The filmmakers stated that the change was necessary to ensure the film's creative integrity.

Director Brian Sean Tange expressed enthusiasm for Egelind's casting, calling it a "creative highlight" and a significant strengthening of the narrative. He believes Egelind brings an essential "rawness, warmth, and human complexity" to the role of Linse. The production team looks forward to seeing her interpretation of the character.

Sylvester Byder, 26, is set to portray Mikkel Kessler himself. Veteran actress Bodil Jørgensen is cast as Ann Kessler, Mikkel's mother, widely known as "Mopper." The film's cast also includes Anders Matthesen as boxing promoter Mogens Palle and Thomas Bo Larsen as trainer Ricard Olsen. The film is anticipated to premiere in cinemas next year.
