Leaders of three Turkish parties meet, discuss potential alliance

Leaders from three Turkish political parties convened for dinner and subsequent discussions, hinting at the possibility of forming an alliance or strengthening their cooperation. DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan, Saadet Party Chairman Mahmut Arıkan, and Yeniden Refah Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan met in the opposition wing of the Grand National Assembly.

Following their meal, the leaders continued their conversation over tea and coffee. Babacan stated that they are "political parties that love Turkey, work for this beautiful country, and strive to solve its problems quickly and reach the standards it deserves." Arıkan commented on the "Terror-Free Turkey" process, noting that while they have always supported efforts to end terrorism and bloodshed, they view the concept as vague. He emphasized the need for a "livable Turkey" and a comprehensive solution with societal consensus, explaining their conditional "yes" to the process due to lingering questions about the current administration's past actions.

Erbakan also shared his thoughts on the meeting, expressing hope that the discussions would bring good fortune to the country. Responding to a question about a potential electoral alliance, Erbakan stated his belief that a change in government is necessary for Turkey to overcome its current difficulties and become a "livable Turkey." He added that for this change to be positive, parties like theirs must maintain strong communication and "may need to take concrete steps together if necessary."

Arıkan echoed the sentiment regarding strengthening ties, saying, "We will try to increase the number of new companions who will join us." The discussions among the party leaders suggest a growing alignment in their political objectives, particularly concerning the need for governmental change and the pursuit of a more stable and prosperous Turkey.
