Lebanon arrests Doctor Food over drug-laced treats

Lebanese authorities have arrested Georges Dib, an online influencer popular on TikTok as "Doctor Food," who was previously sentenced to life in prison in absentia for drug trafficking. The judicial source confirmed Dib's apprehension at his residence in Akkar, in the country's far north. He is slated to be transferred to a detention center in Mount Lebanon to face new charges related to drug trafficking.

Two years prior, the Lebanese judiciary issued an arrest warrant for Dib, accusing him of manufacturing, trafficking, and smuggling narcotics. State-run media reported that authorities had seized confectionery and other food products containing narcotics at Beirut's Rafic Hariri International Airport. These products were reportedly manufactured in factories owned by Dib and were intended for shipment to a Gulf nation.

Despite the arrest warrant and his conviction, Dib continued to post videos on TikTok. In a video shared last month after his conviction became public, he denied the accusations and urged his followers to disregard the reports. Dib gained significant social media fame alongside his ex-wife, Shorouk, known for her cooking and daily life content. The couple separated after Shorouk accused Dib of abuse. She recently hosted a large "divorce party" in Lebanon.
