Lebanon PM meets on recovery projects in southern pilot zones

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam convened a critical meeting on Friday to discuss the initiation of recovery projects in designated "pilot zones" in southern Lebanon. These projects form the cornerstone of the first phase of a broader plan aimed at facilitating the return and recovery of residents in the region.

During the meeting, Salam underscored the necessity of enhanced coordination among all relevant ministries, government bodies, and security forces. This collaboration is deemed essential to ensure the successful execution of the initial phase and to "guarantee a safe and dignified return for residents." To maintain momentum and address potential challenges, the Prime Minister mandated continuous follow-up meetings at the Grand Serail.

Further emphasizing the urgency, Salam called for expedited efforts in clearing rubble, reopening vital roads, and restoring essential services and infrastructure. A significant priority is the provision of prefabricated housing to targeted towns, aiming to enable a swift return for the affected population. Additionally, authorities were tasked with developing detailed plans for the recovery projects and commencing the reconstruction of the bridge connecting Qaqaiyat al-Jisr to Froun, a crucial link for southern villages and districts.
