Lebrun brothers win European Grand Smash doubles title, reclaim world number one ranking

French table tennis sensations Alexis and Félix Lebrun have once again claimed a major title, winning the European Grand Smash doubles championship in Malmö, Sweden. The brothers showcased their dominance by defeating the world number two pair, Wong Chun Ting and Chan Baldwin of Hong Kong, in the final.

The Lebrun brothers secured the victory in straight sets, with scores of 11-7, 11-8, and 14-12. Their performance demonstrated a clear ascendancy over their opponents, marked by quick, decisive points. Alexis Lebrun sealed the first set with an unstoppable forehand. Despite a strong comeback attempt by the Hong Kong duo in the second set, the French pair maintained their aggressive play to win 11-8, and ultimately clinched the match in a more closely contested third set.

This triumph is the Lebrun brothers' third significant doubles title, following their European Championship win and the WTT Finals in 2024. Their recent victory at the Singapore Smash earlier this year also highlighted their return to top form. With this latest win in the highest category of the WTT circuit, Alexis and Félix Lebrun reclaim the world number one doubles ranking, a position they previously held for a year.
