Legal Aid Urges Police to Process Official for Ethics Breach Despite Settlement

Despite reaching a settlement with the victim, Kombes TF, the Director of General Criminal Investigation at the West Sumatra Regional Police, should still face an ethical probe, according to the Legal Aid Institute (LBH).

Kombes TF had been accused of assaulting a local resident, an act that led to criminal charges against him. The situation drew significant attention, highlighting concerns about the conduct of law enforcement officials.

However, a peaceful resolution was reportedly achieved between Kombes TF and the aggrieved party. LBH argues that this settlement should not preclude the police from investigating the ethical breaches involved in the incident. The institute maintains that upholding professional standards within the police force requires accountability for misconduct, regardless of private agreements.
