Legislator Yang Yao has launched a campaign effort to support Lai Jui-lung, a candidate for Kaohsiung mayor, by placing promotional billboards in Penghu. This move aims to leverage the significant Penghu diaspora in Kaohsiung and rally their support for Lai.

Yang Yao, who previously announced his retirement from public office after his current legislative term ends in 2028 due to sleep disorders and concerns about Penghu's development, is now actively backing Lai. He is organizing a Penghu support group for Lai's campaign, emphasizing the deep connections between the two regions.

Lai Jui-lung highlighted the strong ties between Kaohsiung and Penghu, expressing his gratitude for Yang Yao's support. He stated his intention to continue the effective governance of Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai and collaborate with other political figures to advance both cities. Lai also appealed to Penghu natives residing in Kaohsiung and Kaohsiung natives living in Penghu for their backing.

Lai further mentioned that he will work alongside Wu Shu-chin, Yang Yao, and other partners to build upon the achievements of Chen Chi-mai in Kaohsiung and Chen Kuang-fu in Penghu, ensuring progress for both areas.
