Leipzig attack divides MEPs as David downplays its significance

A recent Russian attack at an airport in the eastern German city of Leipzig exposed divisions among Czech members of the European Parliament during a discussion on the program Czech Interests in Europe.

Ivan David, an MEP from the SPD party, repeatedly played down the conclusions of the German investigation. He also speculated about what he called the “suspicious timing” of the incident.

Ondřej Knotek of ANO joined the opposing view, saying that the Czech government must stand on Germany’s side.
