León vs América: Live coverage of the Leagues Cup third-place match

León and América will meet at Houston’s Shell Energy Stadium for the third-place match in the 2026 Leagues Cup. The game offers both teams a chance to finish on the podium in the tournament’s sixth edition and take momentum into the remainder of the Liga MX Apertura 2026.

The two Mexican clubs arrive after semifinal defeats. León lost to Toluca, while América fell to Monterrey. The third-place winner will also collect the competition’s $500,000 prize.

Guillermo Almada’s América recorded three wins, against San Diego FC, Portland Timbers and Columbus Crew, along with two draws against Austin FC and Monterrey.

América holds a clear recent advantage in the matchup. The club has gone nine straight games without losing to León, recording four wins and five draws. León’s last victory came in the sixth round of the 2022 Apertura, when América visited the Nou Camp stadium.

The third-place match will take place at the same stadium scheduled to host the Toluca-Monterrey final. In Mexico, Apple TV will broadcast the game, which will not be shown on free-to-air television.
