Levi Garcia returns to Greece on loan to Panathinaikos

Trinidad and Tobago's national team captain, Levi Garcia, is heading back to Greece after officially completing a season-long loan move to Panathinaikos. The 27-year-old winger joins the Greek club from Russian Premier League side Spartak Moscow, with the loan deal set to run until June 30, 2027.

Panathinaikos has agreed to pay a loan fee of €1.25 million (approximately TT$9.7 million) for Garcia. The agreement also features an optional purchase clause, which could see the transfer become permanent next summer for a fee between €10 million and €12 million. However, this permanent transfer is dependent on performance-related conditions, notably Panathinaikos securing qualification for the prestigious UEFA Champions League.

Garcia's return to Greece comes just months after his transfer to Spartak Moscow. His time in Russia did not meet expectations, as he struggled to establish himself in the Russian Premier League, scoring only a few goals despite arriving with a strong reputation. This contrasts sharply with his highly successful previous stint in Greece, where he played for AEK Athens. During that period, Garcia flourished, becoming one of the league's top attacking talents and earning acclaim for his speed, creativity, and goal-scoring ability. His move back to Greece is widely seen as an opportunity for him to recapture the form that made him a formidable forward in the Super League.
