LG Chairman Koo, Nvidia CEO Huang meet to boost AI, robot, mobility cooperation

LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang have agreed to expedite collaboration in robotics, AI factories, and mobility, marking a significant step in their strategic partnership. This meeting, the second between the two leaders in two months, follows their previous discussion in Seoul and signals a commitment to concrete business cooperation.

LG announced plans to unveil next-generation humanoid robots, developed with Nvidia's technology, in the first quarter of 2025. These robots will be built upon Nvidia's Isaac Grut platform and powered by its Jetson Thor supercomputer for advanced reasoning and control. LG intends to integrate its proprietary actuators, sensors, and batteries into these robots, showcasing its capabilities in physical AI.

Further demonstrating their commitment, LG will deploy its AI home robot, "Clever," which features a wheeled lower body, onto a washing machine production line at its Tennessee factory by the end of the year. This real-world deployment will allow for practical testing in a manufacturing environment. The collaboration also extends to AI factories, where LG will enhance its AI factory solutions for major global tech companies by integrating Nvidia's DSX platform with LG's expertise in cooling, batteries, design, and power solutions.

To ensure effective implementation, LG and Nvidia will form a joint task force comprising technical and business experts. The partnership also aims to develop high-performance computing platforms for next-generation "AI-defined vehicles" (AIDV) by combining LG's strengths in automotive infotainment and software with Nvidia's DRIVE Hyperion platform. This comprehensive collaboration underscores LG's ambition to lead in AI-driven industries.
