LG Electronics Earns NVIDIA Certification for AI Data Center Liquid Cooling

LG Electronics has secured a significant technological advantage in the burgeoning AI data center market, earning NVIDIA's certification for its liquid cooling solutions. This marks a first for a South Korean company, positioning LG as a key player in managing the intense heat generated by high-performance AI semiconductors.

The company's 600-kilowatt (kW) cooling distribution unit (CDU) received final approval from NVIDIA, a leader in AI chip manufacturing. The CDU directly cools servers by circulating cold water, a more effective method than traditional air cooling for the demanding thermal requirements of AI hardware. During the certification process, LG's product demonstrated exceptional precision, maintaining temperature control within a 0.25-degree Celsius margin.

Crucially, the certification highlighted LG's system's ability to operate without interruption, even if some components fail. This feature ensures continuous cooling, a vital aspect for the stability of AI data centers. With NVIDIA's equipment widely adopted as a market standard, this certification is anticipated to pave the way for substantial orders, as it significantly shortens the technical verification period for global clients.

LG Electronics plans to expand its certifications to larger, 1-megawatt (MW) class products. The company aims to offer integrated solutions that cover the entire data center thermal management process, from large-scale chillers to direct-contact cooling plates, further solidifying its global market strategy.
