LG’s winning slugger crushes a 135-meter final homer and moves toward a historic MVP award

Austin Dean became the hero of LG’s victory after launching a towering 135-meter home run against the Doosan Bears at Jamsil Stadium.

The LG Twins’ foreign hitter started as the No. 3 designated hitter on the 3rd. In the first inning, with two outs, he hit a double down the left-field line off Doosan starter Kwak Bin.

Dean was later caught attempting to advance to third after a catcher’s pickoff throw with runners on first and second, an unfortunate baserunning mistake. But his decisive homer put that disappointment aside and made him the central figure in the game.

The performance added to talk that Dean could become LG’s first MVP. The headline also raises the possibility that Kim Do-yeong’s selection for the Asian Games could affect that race.
