LG Twins' New Ace Carlos Carrasco Set to Lead Charge After Heat Break

Carlos Carrasco, the new foreign pitcher for the LG Twins, is slated to take the mound as the team's ace in their first game back after a league-wide break due to extreme heat. He is scheduled to start on August 1 against the Kiwoom Heroes in Gocheok Sky Dome.

Carrasco, a seasoned former Major League Baseball pitcher, made a strong impression in his KBO League debut on July 21. He pitched seven perfect innings against the Doosan Bears, showcasing his capabilities and living up to his reputation. The 39-year-old veteran brings a wealth of experience, having played 17 seasons in MLB, with a career record of 112 wins and 105 losses.

The LG Twins signed Carrasco after parting ways with Yoni Chirinos, who struggled in the previous season. Initially acquiring reliever Alexy Rios, the team shifted focus to securing a starting pitcher and ultimately signed Carrasco. His impressive debut performance, where he threw only 74 pitches through seven innings, hinted at his potential to be a dominant force in the league.

However, Carrasco's second scheduled start was postponed due to the extreme heatwave that led to a suspension of KBO games. Now, with the league resuming, Carrasco is tasked with spearheading the Twins' resurgence. The team has experienced a significant slump in the second half of the season, dropping to third place after leading for much of the first half.
