Lidster’s field goal rallies Argos past Stampeders 33-30

Brady Lidster's 11-yard field goal with just 11 seconds remaining secured a dramatic 33-30 victory for the Toronto Argonauts against the Calgary Stampeders on Thursday night. The decisive kick followed a defensive stop that gave the Argonauts possession at their own 54-yard line with 1:32 left in the game.

Toronto's offense methodically moved the ball downfield, reaching Calgary's four-yard line to set up Lidster's game-winning field goal. The Argonauts, now with a 4-4 record, celebrated their win in front of 16,106 spectators at BMO Field, marking their return to home turf after a 306-day absence since their last home contest on October 4, 2025.

Calgary (4-5) had one final attempt to snatch victory from their own 47-yard line with three seconds remaining. However, Toronto's Benji Franklin intercepted Vernon Adams Jr.'s Hail Mary pass, sealing the Argonauts' hard-fought win. Adams had thrown two interceptions during the game, his first of the season, despite Calgary's defense forcing five turnovers, including four interceptions and a fumble recovery.

The game was a back-and-forth affair, with lead changes throughout the final quarter. Sam Hicks' 40-yard touchdown run had given Toronto a 30-27 lead, only for Jude McTamney to tie the score with a 46-yard field goal. Earlier, Lidster had cut Calgary's lead to 23-24 with a 19-yard field goal, and McTamney had extended Calgary's advantage with a 32-yard kick. Adrian Greene's 67-yard interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter had put Calgary ahead 24-20. Chad Kelly, starting his first home game since October 2024 after recovering from a leg injury, finished with 349 passing yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions.
