Liga MX: Atlas Hosts Tigres in Search of Momentum

The Mexican football league's Apertura 2026 season continues Saturday with a matchup between Atlas and Tigres at Estadio Jalisco. Atlas, aiming for their third victory, looks to rebound after a recent loss to Monterrey and two defeats in the Leagues Cup.

Under coach Hernán Crespo, Atlas secured wins against León and Santos in the initial two matchdays. However, their momentum was halted by a 0-2 loss to Monterrey in the third round before the league's pause for the Leagues Cup. In the binational tournament, Atlas also lost both their matches against Columbus Crew and Charlotte FC, underscoring their need to regain their early-season form.

Tigres, conversely, is still searching for their first win in the Apertura 2026. They have suffered losses to Tijuana and Querétaro, and managed only a draw against Atlético San Luis. This means the San Nicolás de los Garza-based team has accumulated just one point in the first three league fixtures.

Adding to their struggles, Tigres also failed to secure a victory in their three Leagues Cup games, drawing against Real Salt Lake, Minnesota United, and Vancouver Whitecaps. This extends their winless streak across all official competitions to six matches. Despite their current form, Tigres holds a five-game unbeaten streak against Atlas, with two wins and three draws. Their last defeat to Atlas was in Apertura 2023, nearly three years ago on September 17.
