Lili Reinhart Revives Andie Anderson’s Iconic Yellow Dress

Some film dresses become part of pop culture, and Kate Hudson’s yellow dress from How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is one of them. More than two decades after the 2003 film, the look returned on Lili Reinhart.

During a promotional appearance in Brazil for The Love Hypothesis, Reinhart wore a butter-yellow silk dress almost identical to the one Hudson wore as Andie Anderson. The choice turned a striking fashion look into a deliberate tribute to one of the most recognizable styles of the 2000s.

Carolina Herrera created the original dress with costume designer Karen Patch. Reinhart’s version came from a Caché archive design from the 2000s, a replica the brand released after the film’s dress became successful.

The silhouette carried much of the reference. It featured a V-neck, an open back with crossed straps and a long, fluid skirt, combining the sensuality and elegance associated with Andie’s look. Reinhart completed it with long chandelier earrings featuring diamonds by Zydo Italy, rather than the dramatic yellow necklace Hudson wore in the film.

Her stylist, Ib Abdel Nasser, said the outfit was likely only the beginning. The looks for The Love Hypothesis’s promotional tour will draw inspiration from memorable heroines of romantic comedy’s golden era. Starting with Andie Anderson was especially timely because How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days has returned to public conversation after news that a sequel is in its early development.

Reinhart shared photos of the dress alongside Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain,” the same song linked to the film, and added a caption that made the tribute unmistakable.
