Lille Road Repairs Delayed by Construction Holiday and Heat

Road surfaces in the Belgian municipality of Lille have buckled in multiple locations due to recent extreme heat. The municipality is implementing temporary solutions, but permanent repairs are facing delays.

In total, six locations require attention. While most have been addressed, the bike path on Vennestraat still needs repairs in two spots.

Additionally, pouring concrete in the current hot weather is not advisable as it could affect the hardening process. All locations remain accessible, though some sections of the roadway may have alternating traffic.

The municipality urges road users to exercise caution and adjust their speed. The ongoing issues highlight the vulnerability of road infrastructure to extreme weather events.
