Lin Rong San Literary Awards Deadline Approaches

The Lin Rong San Cultural Foundation is calling for submissions for its 22nd literary awards, emphasizing the encouragement of authors to express the vitality of life through their writing. With just 19 days remaining until the deadline, the foundation, co-organized with Liberty Times, aims to stimulate creative literary works in Taiwan.

The competition features four categories: short stories (8,000-11,000 characters), essays (3,000-4,000 characters), new poetry (35-50 lines), and short prose (under 1,000 characters). Substantial cash prizes and awards are offered for first, second, third, and honorable mention recipients in each category. The foundation encourages creative and original submissions across all genres.

Eligibility is restricted to citizens of the Republic of China. All submitted works must be original and unpublished in any form, including personal blogs and social media, with strict prohibitions against plagiarism and AI-generated content. Submissions must be in Chinese, with each participant limited to one entry per category. Employees of the Lin Rong San Cultural Foundation and Liberty Times' "Liberty Literary Supplement" are ineligible.

Submissions can be handwritten or printed in 12-point Chinese characters. Three copies of each submission are required, and no manuscripts will be returned. A completed author information form, downloadable from the foundation's website or obtainable by phone, must accompany each entry. Entries should be mailed via registered post to the foundation's address in New Taipei City, clearly marking the envelope with the specific award category being applied for. The submission period began on July 1 and closes on July 31, with postmarks determining timeliness.
